“New year, new home”

“New year, new home”

As we ring in 2018 we set personal goals for our lives but now it’s time to set resolutions for your home. The people at Streamline construction came up with some resolutions that will make your home more beautiful, efficient, clean and green for 2018.

Resolution #1
Streamline the stuff-
An easy and less expensive way to make you feel better about your home is to clear it of all the clutter you may have. You seem to add things into your home without getting rid of older items in the house. All of these cause clutter and could make your home look dirty and out dated. This years resolution is to go by room to room and get rid of anything you no longer have use for, throw it away or donate it. Get rid of things that would drain your energy or are broken and replace them with things that uplift your energy.

Resolution #2
Safe and sound-
You need to start off the new year making sure your home is healthy for you to keep staying in. You first need to check for radon. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that cause lung cancer and death in America. You could get a test kit at your local hardware store and it only costs $20, that’s a small price to pay for you and your families health. Make sure you install a carbon monoxide detector and fire detectors around the house to make sure you are protected at all times. Another way to make sure your house is protected is always clean out your dryer lint, it may seem very simple but lint could be the cause of a fire in your home.

Resolution #3
Cut down the bills in a few simple steps-
Going green on your house is very simple. You could start by cutting down your energy usage in your home, always switch off the lights whenever you leave a room. To save more money on your electricity bill is to turn off your air conditioner when you are away from the house. Another way is to replace all of your light bulbs with LED bulbs and switch your shower heads with low flow ones. Turning off your power strips or placing your home computer to sleep mode when not in use is also a simple way to save energy. Watering your grass less would help out the drought situation we have going on.

Resolution #4
More chores-
A clean house consists of keeping up with daily chores. The dishes should be washed every night and be put away, no excuses! Place everything where it needs to go when done using it. Keep up and clean your house once a week. You could

get the help of your family and divide the chores between everyone to make it simple and easy. The upside of this is you can get the job done in less time and start the weekend off having spare time.

Resolution #5
Make your home more entertaining-
If one of your resolutions is to spend more time with family and friends remodeling your house will be perfect for this year. You don’t have to empty out your wallet all it takes is a few updates and a little bit of rearranging. Adding plants into your home gives it a more finished look and helps the energy and air in the house! Update the look of your home by adding bright colored throw pillows on the couch to make your home seem colorful and uplifted. Lastly, you could rearrange all of the furniture in the room so it just doesn’t face the t.v and you and your family could get in some real conversations and connections for the new year.

What is a new years resolution you have for 2018?
